ABOUT THE ARTIST

Hi there!

I’m Ana, an oil painter and educator based in Belgrade, Serbia. Alongside my own creative practice, I enjoy sharing what I’ve learned about oil painting through practical exercises and insights into my process.

My work taps into a variety of subjects, but imaginative, narrative paintings are at the core of my creative practice. I’m drawn to the mysterious, finding inspiration in nature and folklore. My main influences are the Impressionists, Tonalists and the Pre-Raphaelites. I work primarily in water-mixable oils, although I love to experiment with different techniques and materials once in a while.

Although I spent some time studying at the Vienna Atelier of Traditional Art and with various mentors, I’m largely self-taught, so I know how challenging it can be to piece together your own art education. That experience informs my teaching: I enjoy breaking down complex ideas into simple concepts and making oil painting more straightforward for other artists.

My mission is to carry on the traditions of oil painting in the modern world and pass them on to the next generation of artists. I want to help make this knowledge more accessible, so more people can learn from it and make it their own.
